Henley on Mindil - So you built the boat for water
but it didn’t float. Don’t despair, as this is the race for you.
How fast can you and your mates carry your boat in a straight
line in a race down the beach? This is a very keenly fought race.
There are many beach events organised on the day
to entertain the large crowds that attend each year. A small entry
fee is charged except for the under 12 events. Such as Hole-In-One,
Tug-of-War Competitions, Kids Beach Races, McDonald’s Sandcastle
Competition, Ladies Thong Throwing Competition, Henley on Mindil.
Funds generated during the day are donated to various
charities in the Darwin region each year. The main boat races
between boats built out of beer or soft drink cans.
Come and enjoy a great family day. There are beach
events for all ages and the water events will be spectacular!
Entrance by gold coin donation. Proceeds to projects of the combined
Lions Clubs of Darwin. Bar facilities available so there is no
BYO due to our licensing. Mindil Market food and craft stalls
will be available from 10am to 10pm.
